FP63 New Bridge 21st December 2003

Site Home Pictures Home
The existing brick built bridge has progressively collaped from the downstream side in the last few years. This is because the culvert becomes blocked by branches and leaves and water flows over the top of the bridge, washing away the downstream side. It now presents a danger to walkers, as there is a 6 foot drop to the stream bed. We decided that the best solution would be to erect a 15 foot wooden bridge supported on sleeper abutments at each end, to span either side of the bridge underneath. Once the bridge works were complete, Christmas was celebrated in the usual way, with Audrey Trumper providing lovely mince pies and coffee with funny milk in it. Happy Xmas 2003 to you all!
